Emilie Letouzey explores relationships with plants and conceptions of life in contemporary Japan. After a thesis on traditional horticulture in the Ōsaka region, she is currently investigating the technical aspect of the manipulation of plants in ritual or industrial contexts, by approaching plant life in Japan as a "grey area" of life. She is currently a Fyssen Foundation post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Anthropology at Ōsaka University.
